Andy Warhol formou-se em arte comercial na Universidade Carnegie Mellon em 1949. No mesmo ano, mudou-se para Nova York e começou a trabalhar com ilustrações e publicidade nas revistas Vogue, Harper's Bazaar e The New Yorker. Warhol começou a exibir seus trabalhos na década de 50. O artista fica famoso somente na década de 60, quando passa a aplicar conceitos publicitários em suas obras de arte. Ele começa a aplicar tintas acrílicas e cores intensamente fortes em seus trabalhos. Warhol recria a Pop Art e suas reproduções das latas de sopa Campbell e garrafas de Coca-cola, passam a ficar bastante conhecidas. Ele também passa a fazer reproduções de retratos de celebridades como Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor e Jacqueline Kennedy. Essas reproduções eram pintadas em cores fortes e variadas. Em circulo de amizades estavam Edie Sedgwick, Candy Darling, Nico e Ultra Violet, as chamadas Superstars que frequentavam seu estúdio, o famoso The Factory. Andy também foi mentor intelectual da banda The Velvet Underground, cujo a amiga Nico era vocalista. Com a ajuda de Gerard Malanga, ele funda a revista Interview, em 1969.

The artist become famous during the 60s, when he start to apply advertising concepts in his works. He begin to work with acrylic paints and strong colours. Warhol recreates the Pop Art and his reproductions of Campbell soap cans and Coke bottles start to become famous. He also begin to make reproductions of pictures of celebrities such as Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Jacqueline Kennedy. These reproductions were painted in strong colours. Among his friends were Edie Sedgwick, Candy Darling, Nico and Ultra Violet, the famous Superstars who used to be seen in his studio, The Factory. Andy also was the mastermind of the band The Velvet Underground. In 1969 he founded the Interview magazine.
